Drum machine

A drum machine is an electronic musical instrument designed to imitate the sound of drums andor other percussion instruments. Drum machines are very useful instruments for a wide variety of musical genres, not just purely electronic music. They are also a common necessity when session drummers are not available or desired. Most modern drum machines are sequencers with a sample playback (rompler) or synthesizer component that specializes in the reproduction of drum times as well as the sound of other traditional percussion instruments.

Growth is a flash-based visual drum machine. First, the user will create a drum beat sequence using a simple drum machine interface. Next, when the user clicks on the play button, branches will be drawn for every beat that is played, forming a larger tree at the end. How the tree will look like will depend on the beat sequence.

Just found this application that allows you to play your rock band drum set freestyle. This application lets you reassign each pad to whatever you want (including .wav files of your own), save pad settings, and record/playback your playing. Pretty great considering it's FREE

Just as it's impossible to look cool playing a big plastic guitar, it's pretty hard to be taken seriously as a "drummer" when tapping away on an electronic drum machine straight out of an '80s video. Otronicon has posted a set of pictorial instructions for turning a real, full size drum kit into a Rock Band-compatible drum controller.
