Soprano saxophone

Soprano saxophone The soprano saxophone is a variety of the saxophone, a woodwind instrument. The soprano is the second in size of the saxophone family which consists, as generally accepted, (from smallest to largest) of the sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, bass, and contrabass. (Benedikt Eppelsheim has constructed a new "Soprillo" saxophone, which sounds an octave above the soprano.) Of these categories, only the soprano through baritone are commonly used.

Harvey Wainapel straddles the worlds of both jazz and Brazilian music with commanding authority, regardless of the performance context. Known for his prowess on clarinet, soprano, alto, and tenor saxophones, Wainapel's elegance of tone, appreciation of nuance, and subtleties of time are rare among woodwind practitioners.

See photo of a black plastic Runyon soprano sax mouthpiece complete with ligature and new reed in case. If you like a small, narrow mouthpiece, this could be for you. My man replaced this with a wider model like he has on his other saxophones. Have a look.

When I tried the Yanagisawa soprano saxophone, it was like honey melting through my fingers and sent shivers up and down my spine.
