Tubular bells
Tubular Bells is a record album, written and mostly performed by Mike Oldfield (and later orchestrated by David Bedford for The Orchestral Tubular Bells version). The late Vivian Stanshall provided the voice of the "Master of Ceremonies" who reads off the list of instruments at the end of the first movement.

Tubular Bells composer Mike Oldfield has quit Britain because the smoking ban and health-and-safety culture have made life "intolerable".He said Britain had become too strict, with its "ludicrous" emphasis on health-and-safety rules and the increased use of CCTV and speed cameras.

Althoug the words "... and tubular bells" would likely seem out of place whereever they were spoken, they are especially odd when they crop up in an instrumental song. You know, because instrumentals have no lyrics... or they shouldn't. Well, just read the story because as always, at TBOE, "Our Opinions Are Righter Than Yours."

Tubular Bells writer Mike Oldfield isn't told as record company gives away almost 3 million copies of classic album with right wing press. Nice.
